Saturday night was the “dress to impress” banquet night.  We dressed up a little and then went to the east pavilion in the RiverMarket.  It was HOT, as in temperature.  But that’s okay, nothing we could do about it.  There was a buffet and dj.  I learned a new line dance or slide dance?  I think they called it slide, anyway…… On Friday night there were surveys passed out or maybe a better term would be ballot.  We were to vote for things such as “Most likely to never get married” or “Hottest Mom” “Hottest Dad”, “Most likely to have spent time in prison”,  etc….They passed out the awards on Sat night.  It was fun.  Yes, it was a bit hot, but I really enjoyed seeing everyone and looking at all the pretty dresses.  After that we walked across the way to Sticky Fingerz.  We hung out in the lounge and on the patio.  It was a blast.  Before the reunion, I joked that somehow Nathan would know someone that I didn’t at my reunion.  I was right.  We are hanging out at Sticky Fingerz and Nathan asked me if I knew a guy sitting across the room.  I know who he is, but don’t know him.  Nathan knew him!! They both hung out at the same place in Fayetteville.  Small world.  It was a great night.  I look forward to the next one.

Saturday was the family friendly event.  There were hot dogs, hamburgers, fixins, beans, potato salad, chips, waters and soda.  It was held at the Lakewood ……….I don’t know what they call it, but by the walking lake.  Anyway, I was hoping it was going to be in the indoor room and not the outdoor pavilion, but I just wasn’t sure.  I was soooo happy to see it was indoors.  My children and husband were at a family reunion, so sadly I was solo, but the upside to this was I didn’t have to go outside 🙂  They had a blow up bouncy thingy for the kiddos.  They all seemed to be having a blast and all the parents were hot and sweaty.  I didn’t take as many pictures at this event, but here’s what I got.  I’m sure I’m missing some people, but it was harder to get to everyone at this one.

It is finally here.  Our 10 yr reunion.  Last night was the first of 3 events.  We had a meet and greet at Cornerstone Pub in downtown NLR.  It was so good to see everyone, a little overwhelming, but so good.  Here are some pictures, but I must warn you that my photo program has a auto red eye fix on it and it didn’t do so well with these.  i can fix it, but I don’t have the time right now, or the energy!  It was a late night, but lots of fun.

Pics

Below are some of our family pictures we had taken a few weeks ago.  There are also some of Lucy’s 1 yr pictures.  I only have a few posted here, but you can view all of them at www.whitneyloibner.smugmug.com Click on our gallery and the password is amy.  While you are there you can check out some of Whitney’s other galleries that give you a sampling of her work.  She has been taking our family pictures as well as our kids pictures for about 2 years now.  If you are interested, let me know and I will get you the information you need.  Not only does she give us great pictures, but they are affordable, too.  I’m not sure how to word this so that it doesn’t sound so cheesy, but it’s true.

Peek A Boo

July 22, 2008

The other morning, Eli pushed his chair up to Lucy and started playing Peek A Boo.  She thought it was great.  Every once in a while he shows her his sweet side……

No Fear

July 22, 2008

While Big Daddy was here we went to his friends pool so Eli good show off his swimming skills.  They have a diving board and Eli had no fear.  He was jumping over and over…….that is until he attempted to dive.  He saw me and Nathan diving and flipping off of the board and decided he would, too.  The first couple of times he would say “I dive” and then just do a normal jump off.  Then he decided he needed to lean into it and did a belly flop, but not too bad.  The next time he did a belly flop and it was pretty bad.  After that he had a little fear of the diving board, but was okay with jumping off of the side.  We will have to work on the board.  As for Lucy, she LOVES the water.  She wiggles her hands and feet and splashes.  It looks like she will be a fish in the water before too long.

Last night when I was putting Eli to bed he said “You wash my pillow”  He asked me because that morning his diaper had leaked and so the sheets and pillow were wet.  I said “Yes, I washed your pillow”  He then leaned in, hugged me and said “Mommy, I’m proud of you”

It’s gone…

July 19, 2008

When Eli woke up from his nap yesterday afternoon he called out for me to come get him.  I went in and we talked for a moment.  I asked him for a kiss and he gave one to me then we talked a little more.  He then tells me “Mommy, it’s gone” and I say “What’s gone”  He repeats himself and begins licking his bottom lip and chin.  “Mommy, my kiss is gone” he tells me.  Such a sweet moment………………

wagon for two

July 18, 2008

Lucy got a cool wagon for two from Big Daddy and Nana for her birthday.  We put it together earlier this week and before we could get it outside the kids were already enjoying it.  Eli even ate lunch in it.

making foam

July 18, 2008

I saw on another blog an idea that look both fun and super simple.  I tried it out this past Wed with the kids I keep.  They really enjoyed it.  All you have to do is cut the bottom off of a plastic bottle then put a wash cloth over the end and use a rubberband to hold it on.  Take the cap off and dip the washcloth part in bubble solution and then blow through the part you would usually drink out of.  Tada! You have foam.  It’s that simple and o so entertaining.
