Christmas is here!

December 25, 2009

Well, I can hardly believe that tomorrow is Christmas.  As of tonight we have celebrated 4 times and still have 2 more to go! It is both wonderful and exhausting.  We started things off last weekend with Mema and my mom’s side of the family.  Then Sunday we celebrated with my immediate family.  On Wed we went to my cousins house on my dad’s side for gag gifts and great food.  Tonight we went to my dad’s side of the family that we refer to as “the country”.  We called it that growing up cause it seemed so far away!  Really it’s just down 107 a little bit.  Anyway, it is a tradition that has been going on for years and years.  We gather starting around 4:30 or 5, everyone brings a dish, we feast and then Santa comes and hands out gifts.  After he leaves we all exchange gifts to each other and then go home.  As a child it always seemed like we didn’t get home till like 10, but as an adult I have realized we are usually home by 7:30 :). ANYWHO, in the morning we will exchange gifts just the 4 of us and then my parents, aunt and brother will come over for breakfast.  Then we will head over to the James’ house and feast on ribs, carol, sleep and then wake up and spend one last day eating and opening presents.  Whew, I’m tired just typing this all out.  I better get to bed.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

say a little prayer

December 4, 2009

I just got a call from my friend and she is needing us to pray.  Her kids have all been sick over the past week or so,  so when her newborn got it she wasn’t surprised. It was like a bad cold, but he couldn’t seem to shake it, so she made an appointment for him to see the doctor.  Up until today it has just been cold symptoms, but when she was signing in at the clinic she noticed he didn’t look right. They agreed and took him back.  As they were walking down the hall he stopped breathing.  He is okay.  They were able to get him breathing again, but he is in NICU at Children’s.  I’m not 100% sure exactly what is going on in his little body, but from what I understand he has RSV and maybe something else.  He is being watched and treated with oxygen and antibiotics.  I write all this to ask you to pray for this sweet boy and his family.  From what I know baby C is doing alright right now and they look to keep him a few days to get him healthy again.  His momma asked me to ask everyone to lift him up.  Please pray.  I will update when I find out anything new.  Thank you.

life around here

December 1, 2009

so I haven’t been the best on keeping the old blog updated.  Part of that is being busy.  Another big part is that some of the things going on in our family aren’t things I feel I should or even could be sharing on here.  I’m referring to fostering and adoption through the state.  We have a friend that has a private blog where she can talk a little more freely and we are thinking that we should go that route, too.  So be watching for a post with the link to a blog designated for our thoughts and happenings around fostering and adopting.  Thanks for checking back with us from time to time 🙂

I LOVE MY HUSBAND

My baby is 4

December 1, 2009

4 years ago today we welcomed our first born into the world.  I can not believe he is 4! When asked what kind of party he wanted he informed me “I want a Batman party”   We had a family get together on Sat to celebrate and then for the first time ever we had a kid get together this afternoon.  It was basically a big playdate.  I’m too tired to say much more.  They were both very enjoyable and smooth.  Thank you to all our family and friends for helping us celebrate Eli’s life. Here are pics from the Sat family lunch, this morning when we  had doughnuts and put a “4” candle in a long john and sang to him and then from this afternoon.

The kid’s school did a Thanksgiving feast for lunch last Wed.  They had parents bring different dishes to make up the feast and both of  the kids were very excited about the whole thing.  For Lucy’s class we signed up to bring something pumpkin.  We decided on a Pumpkin Oatmeal Raisin Cookie recipe.  They were soooo good.  We will definitely make them again.  For Eli’s class I signed up to be a parent helper so I could come and see.  His class dressed up as indians and the class across the hall dressed up like pilgrims.  It was precious.  Here is E in his costume that he made for the occasion.

Thanksgiving 09

December 1, 2009

We have so much to be thankful for, more than I even know how to express at this moment.  So for now I will just post a picture or two, mainly because I seemed to have only taken 1 or 2. 🙂  We headed to SE AR for Thanksgiving with the James family.  As usual there was good food and good music.  Our days consisted of rolling down the front yard hill, setting up the manger scene in Great Gran front yard, eating, meeting some new friends and playing in their backyard that had a super cool large tree house and zip line, eating, playing, eating, hanging out, eating and a little more eating.  Here are the pics that I managed to get……..
