Easter

April 18, 2009

Okay, so I’m a little behind on this post, but I figured better late than never, right? So we had a nice Easter morning.  The kids got a little something from us in their baskets.  Eli was excited and said something like “What else did the Easter bunny bring us?”  to which I replied “These baskets are from Mommy and Daddy”  He was not okay with that, he quickly corrected me and said “You are not the Easter bunny, mommy, it’s not nice to pretend to be the Easter bunny!”  What could I say to that?!  So, rather than argue I changed the subject 🙂  We then got ready and headed for church.  After church we went to my mom’s house for a Belgian waffle lunch.  We had strawberries, blueberries, pecans, peaches, syrup and sausage.  Not your usual Easter meal, but we decided to keep it simple.  Since the weather was a bit cold and dreary, the egg hunt was indoors and the kiddos loved every minute of it.  We put the kids down before lunch, but Lucy was not having it, so after she persisted we went and got her out of bed.  My first thought was that she would be a bit of a pill without sleep, but she was quite the opposite.  She hammed it up all afternoon and never got a nap!  She was in one of the best and funniest moods she has ever been in!  We loaded up early evening and headed home just in time for stories and bed.  It was a great day.  Oh, I almost forgot.  In Eli’s Sunday school class their memory verse for this month is “Christ has risen” Matthew 28:5-6.  We have been practicing saying it, ya know memorizing it as the term memory verse implies :),  and so he was walking through the halls of church saying it over and over.  It was sweetie sweetie.  And last, but most important HE IS RISEN!!!! Hallelujah, Praise the LORD!!!!

April 14, 2009

Lucy got some accessories for our potato head in her Easter basket.  It is called the Sassy Spud accessories.  She decided she was a sassy spud.

** UPDATE**As you may or may not know for most of Feb and March Lucy was not herself.  She got sick and then a little better, then real sick and we couldn’t quite recover fully…….until recently.  It turned out that her being sick must have really flared up her reflux situation.  We gave her medicine a little time to work, but no big improvement.  We went back last week and up her dosage and I am happy to report that for the first time in couple of months Lucy seems well!!!! Praise the Lord!  It is so nice to have her back to her self again.

easter eggs

April 10, 2009

Nana bought a couple of egg dying kits for the kiddos to make easter eggs.  Last Sunday we got out all the stuff and went after it.  This is the first year we have dyed real eggs.  E and L each had a dozen eggs of their own.  Aunt Pammie and Mema got in on the action, too.  By the end we had pretty eggs and not so pretty hands 🙂  Thanks Nana!

spring

April 10, 2009

I remember seeing a post last year where the mom got terra cotta pots and the child painted it then planted some seeds and I decided I wanted to do that with Eli.  Here it is a year later and we are finally doing it 🙂  I got a few extra pots so we could invite our good friends Eden and Ardyn to join us.  Eli and Eden painted their pots Monday and then we planted our seeds on Thursday.  The painting was big kids only, but the little ones got in on the action for the planting.  Overall, I think they enjoyed it.  Lucy especially loved putting the dirt in the pot.  She would fill hers up and then try to pour it in another pot and then repeat.  It was a kind of a whirl wind project, but I’m glad we did it.  I hope there are some sprouts soon for the kids to see.

funny

April 10, 2009

Last week, Eli and his friend, Eden, were jumping off the couch playing Buzz Lightyear (eli) and God (eden).  Eli would “fly” off the couch.  Eden very seriously says to Eli “I can’t fly, Eli, my feet are nailed to the cross!”
