And the first 2 don’t count…… Okay, okay, so you can actually see her dinner on the tray, whatever….:) I just love how no kid can eat any form of spaghetti without making a mess.

what a day

August 15, 2008

We have 3 extra kiddos on Wednesdays, so I’m always trying to think of activities to keep everyone entertained and contained 🙂  We made clay today.  We made clay a little while back, but it had to air dry per the directions and it took forever.  Well, I have recently come across some blogs that have been inspiring.  One of them had a really easy clay recipe that you bake.  This person had made a bowl and beads.  I thought the kids would be real excited about making, baking and painting beads, but they weren’t.  However, they did want to make the clay and bake and paint, just not beads. So we got out the cookie cutters and made lots of other things. They really enjoyed the part when they got to paint them and when they ran out of clay to paint, they painted their faces 🙂 Here are some pictures of our activity.  All in all it was a success.

Krecia & Patch

August 9, 2008

Last weekend two very special people got married.  Krecia and Patch are now offical.  It was a great weekend.  Sadly I have no pictures, well, I have a few, but none of the wedding stuff.  One the favorite parts, besides the actual wedding was the night before.  A few of us stayed with Krecia in a hotel downtown and had a girls night.  It was soooo good.  It was probly the best conversations I have had in a setting like that in a long time.  It was very real and……….well, just good.  We took a group shot using the auto timer and tv.  Here is the best we got.  I will try and snag a few pictures from someone else of the other festivities.  Congrats to the Newlyweds!!!

San Diego

August 9, 2008

This past week Nathan had to travel to San Diego for work.  I was fortunate enough to get to use frequent flyer miles and join him for a couple of days.  Luckily Nana was in town and up for the job of keeping up with the kids, with just a little help from Mema(their great grandma) and Aunt Pammy the Great.  Thanks to all you ladies for stepping in so I could go to Cali.  It was such a nice break.  His company put us in a very, very nice hotel.  You know, the kind that is so nice that everything and I mean everything is expensive!! For example, a 20oz bottle of water cost $4.50!  Or a small bag of chips, $1.50.  Then the one that tops them all, I needed batteries for my camera so I thought I would just suck it up and pay a little more for some in the gift shop.  I go in and to my surprise they want $12.50 for………are you ready……………for 2 AA batteries!!!!!! That is so………outrageous!! So, of course I didn’t pay that, I just hoped the place we were going had some and if not, my bad for forgetting the ones I bought before I left AR.  We were headed to a cliff where Nathan and 2 other guys he works with were going paragliding.  Luckily they have a small gift shop type area and I was able to buy AA batteries for .99 a piece.  I believe that is cheaper than Wal-Mart!  So, moving on.  I spent one afternoon hanging out in the amazing weather and watching Nathan and the other 2 paraglide and then the other day I was there I walked to the Gaslamp area and shopped.  We ate at Yards pub/grill the first night, which is where we took our own picture and the 2nd night at Fish Market with some guys he works with.  It was a fun trip.  The weather is AWESOME.  I believe I was made to live in that climate 🙂  Here are a few pictures.  I didn’t get many, but whatever……next time.

57 years young

August 4, 2008

Last Thursday we celebrated my mom’s 57th birthday.  She loves IHOP, so we planned to meet there with my Mema and possibly my Aunt Pam.  After thinking about it a little more I thought it would be fun to have some of her friends there, too.  So I called them up and made it into a surprise party.  A good time was had by all and she got really cool gifts.  Ryder and Eli were loving their pancake dinner!  Nothing like a sweet, sugary dinner to make a child smile. 🙂

My mom, aka Nana, brought over a yummy cake topped with cool whip icing and strawberries.  She just happen to bring it by on the day I keep kids, so we took a break to try it out.  Everyone got a plate and fork, but for some reason Eli either decided he didn’t want to use the fork or couldn’t figure out how to make it all stay on the fork, but for whatever reason didn’t.  I suppose picking it up seemed too messy or unnecessary, so he decided to go for it face first.  It kind of reminded me of the dinner table scene on A Christmas Story.

Last week we got the chance to meet up with some of our best friends for breakfast at Community Bakery and then off to the Tube Room for some fun.  Eli was so excited about spending the morning with Campbell and Wilson!  Wilson was such a great helper for Eli.  They all 3 played very well together.  After playing we went to the cafe above it and during lunch it must have clicked in Eli’s head that we were getting ready to leave cause he started crying and I asked him what was wrong.  He said “I’m not ready to leave, mommy”  It was a sad little cry.  But, he survived.  THANKS!  We had a blast and hope to get together again real soon.

Yogurt

August 3, 2008

I was thinking about how early I started giving Eli his own spoon the other day and how I haven’t ever let Lucy use a spoon.  I didn’t think a whole bunch about it, but I saw these little cups of yogurt at the store not long ago and decided it was time for Lucy to give it a shot.  Here are the results 🙂 I think it is safe to say she likes yogurt.

Once Eli saw me taking pictures of Lucy with her yogurt he requested his picture be taken with his.  I asked him to show me his yogurt meaning the cup and he then made this face to literally show me his yogurt.  He’s a cutie.
